What’s the role of arts in the current landscape?

This panel brings together artists, cultural workers, and organization leaders to explore the evolving role of the arts in today’s ever changing climate. Through questions that examine the artist’s responsibility to truth and change, the difference between public and gallery art, the dynamics between institutional and community-based practices, and the role of creativity in times of crisis, this conversation will center the power of art as both a personal and collective force. Together, we’ll reflect on how artists engage with the public, the challenges they face, and how art continues to serve the public good—while navigating polarization, resilience, and hope.

Panelists: Daniela Rivera, Artist / Activist / Educator, Professor of Studio Art at Wellesley College and Visiting Professor of Painting at Boston University College of Fine Arts. Paula Estey, Founder / Executive Director / Creative Director, The PEG Center for Artistic Activism. Jamaal Eversley, Artist / Collaborator, Project Manager of The National Center of Afro-American Artist’s UnMonument grant.
