mission + vision
The Arts Action Consortium (AAC) is a collective of six leading cultural organizations- Ágora Cultural Architects, Arts and Business Council of Greater Boston, Assets for Artists, Bloom Arts Strategy, Dunamis, and Midday Movement Series- that provide professional development, technical assistance, strategy, artistic development, and career planning services to artists living and working in Boston. Together, these organizations empower Boston’s artists by providing them with free access to education and skills that support the pursuit of a successful creative career in Boston. The Arts Action Consortium is committed to building a more equitable, abundant, and sustainable arts community and ecosystem in Boston.
The AAC partner organizations have a combined total of over 85 years of experience in the arts field, and collectively serve over 1,100 Boston artists each year. This consortium was built to utilize the strengths and services of each organization, and increase awareness and accessibility for artists. More than half of the leaders of the AAC are practicing artists themselves, which allows the work to be deeply rooted in and informed by the unique challenges, perspectives, opportunities, and aspirations of the creative community. The AAC members have fostered authentic, trust-based relationships with the many stakeholders of the Boston arts community, including government agencies, philanthropic organizations, established institutions, community-based groups, educators, presenters, arts administrators, and independent artists across multiple disciplines, including music, dance, theater, literary arts, and visual arts.
equity statement
Each member organization of AAC are deeply committed to building a more just and equitable world through the arts; as a collective we aim to diminish barriers for artists who have been historically marginalized and excluded by both centering these populations and actively utilizing practices that decenter whiteness. The AAC member organizations serve a wide array of individuals that are representative of the rich diversity of Boston’s artistic community and the city at large.
AAC has no tolerance for discrimination, hate speech, or acts of hate across all of our offerings and programming, and are committed to fostering safe spaces where all voices and identities are welcome. If we identify or receive reports of threats to the safety, comfort, or well being of our constituency, we will take immediate action to deal with any issues head on. We are here to have difficult and constructive conversations, to utilize radical imagination to envision new systems and possibilities, and to build up the communities that need it most. No matter where you come from, no matter your race, gender, identity, religion, or background, we welcome you to the AAC community.
