Beyond Arts Grants: Creative Solutions for Project Support

After this introductory-level workshop with Yara Liceaga-Rojas, participants will better understand how they can define the work they are already doing as a fundable project, how to talk about that work with stakeholders, how to integrate care practices when developing a project, and tips for securing the necessary funding.

This workshop runs November 9 + 16.

November 9: Project Development & How to Find Partners — Participants will learn about developing an appropriate project for the appropriate partner and where and how to search for opportunities.

November 16: Creating a Proposal + Building a Project Budget — The second session will tackle the project summary and project budget you might be asked to share with partners for grant applications, cold calls, and other partnership conversations. Participants will discuss how to set artist fees, taking into account the barriers – financial trauma, the devaluing of the arts, and systemic inequities – that come into play when we build our own project budgets. We will also discuss how to persevere through rejection. Participants will leave empowered to fight for their worth and prepared to take advantage of creative opportunities.

Suitable for artists of all disciplines. 25 participants max. Assets for Artists workshops are open to artists in MA, CT, RI, and ME. As part of the Arts Action Consortium Boston artists receive priority access to all A4A workshops.
