The Arts Action Consortium’s Skill Clinics are a series of accessible, hands-on workshops created for Boston artists who want to build the practical skills that support their creative work and careers. The clinics focus on the everyday tools that can make an artist more independent, confident, and sustainable—from shaping how your work is presented to understanding how your money moves.
Across Media Editing, Artist Statements, Website Building, and Budgeting & Budget Tracking, artists will learn foundational skills they can immediately put into practice. The goal isn’t to turn artists into professional marketers, web designers, or accountants. It’s to demystify the systems surrounding an artistic career and make sure artists have enough knowledge to participate in those systems on their own terms.
Each session includes a lecture or demonstration in one key skill, followed by work time to work on your own materials and receive real time feedback from experts.
Preparing for grad school or fellowships? This workshop will help you polish your artist statement to one that will endure the test of time!
An artist statement is a piece of writing by you that, in collaboration and application materials, helps the audience access or understand your artistic work and potential. In this workshop, learn how to gain a greater sense of confidence in representing your own ideas, understand how to reach your audience, and find just the right words to express your ideas.
